Fertility Assessment

A fertility assessment helps you understand your reproductive health and identify any factors affecting conception β€” the first step towards the right treatment plan.

Why Get Assessed?

A fertility assessment gives you and your specialist a clear picture of where you stand, so any treatment β€” from simple interventions to IVF or surrogacy β€” can be planned accurately and without delay.

Tests for Women

  • AMH β€” measures ovarian reserve (egg quantity)
  • Antral Follicle Count (AFC) β€” ultrasound count of resting follicles
  • Hormone panel β€” FSH, LH, TSH, prolactin and estradiol
  • Pelvic ultrasound β€” assesses the uterus and ovaries
  • Tubal patency test β€” checks if the fallopian tubes are open

Tests for Men

  • Semen analysis β€” count, motility and morphology
  • Hormonal or genetic tests if indicated by the results

What Happens Next

Once your results are in, a fertility specialist explains what they mean and recommends a personalised plan β€” whether that's lifestyle guidance, IUI, IVF, donor programmes or surrogacy.

FAQs

Fertility Assessment β€” Answered

Consider an assessment if you have been trying to conceive for 12 months (or 6 months if the woman is over 35), or if you have irregular cycles, known reproductive issues, or a history of pregnancy loss.

Common tests include AMH (ovarian reserve), antral follicle count on ultrasound, a hormone panel (FSH, LH, TSH, prolactin), and assessment of the uterus and fallopian tubes.

A semen analysis is the primary test, evaluating sperm count, motility and morphology. Further hormonal or genetic tests may be advised based on the results.

Most tests are simple blood tests, an ultrasound, or a semen sample. They are quick and minimally uncomfortable.
